Dear families,
Thank you to all our families who provided pleasing feedback on our parent information slide- shows and unit overviews. The teachers have been working tirelessly to provide you with this valuable information so that you have a sense of connection and the ability to actively engage in your child’s learning.
We have also started our Parent/Teacher interviews (getting to know you yarns) which are a wonderful opportunity to get to know you, hear about your goals for your child and to share information about the learning taking place in the classroom. Please do not hesitate to reach out and talk with us if you need to provide or seek additional information on your child’s academic, social and emotional learning progress.
We can be contacted by:
- Telephone 61423580
- Email: campbellps@ed.act.edu.au (general emails and any outside of working hours emails)

COVID-19 updates
We have had several Covid-19 positive cases across our school. Please be aware that only the classroom or cohort impacted by the positive case will receive notification from the school and a letter outlining the level of exposure and any follow up measures required. This is to avoid inundating families with repetitive emails/notification letters. If you do receive several letters, please make sure you read them carefully as there are different instructions for families depending on the exposure risk/number of cases in the classroom. Please remember to notify ACT Health and the school in the event of a positive case.
Information we will require to complete our risk assessment process includes:
Student name, date of positive test, type of test (RAT/PCR), first day of symptoms (if any), last day at school.
Thank you to all the parents who have already been impacted by a positive case. Your support and willingness to follow the required measures has been greatly appreciated.

We are very excited to be launching the Seesaw Family app across Preschool to Year 6.
For those families who are new to Seesaw, it is an app that aims to connecting families to their child’s classroom. We have been utilising Seesaw in our junior school over the last couple of years and due to positive feedback from families, it will be launched across the school in 2022.
The Seesaw Family app provides families and teachers with opportunities to make authentic connections, with a focus on the teaching and learning as it happens in the classroom.
Teachers will be sending their students’ login information at the end of this week. Along with the logins will be instructions around installing the app.
One of our incredible teachers, Rachel Honner, is our Seesaw Coordinator. If you have any questions, please contact myself or Rachel.

Getting to Know You Yarns
Over the last week we have had the pleasure of hosting Getting to Know you Yarns. The Yarns have provided our teachers with an opportunity to meet our families and learn a little bit about the students in their classrooms.
This is a new initiative at Campbell Primary School and we are pleased to announce that we have had over 73 % of our families attend their child’s Yarn.
Thank you to all our families that have been able to attend. If you haven’t had a Yarn with your child’s teacher, please contact the front office to make an appointment. If you have any feedback regarding the new process, please contact me on erin.minehan@ed.act.edu.au
ICAS Certificates
In 2021, some of the ICAS assessments were completed during the remote period and when we returned to school site. The participating students did an incredible job, navigating their way through their assessments under very unusual conditions. The last remaining ICAS certificates have arrived, and they would usually be presented at a whole school assembly but due to the current climate we thought the student achievements should be celebrated in our newsletter. Please see the table below for our results.

NAPLAN 2022
It's not long now until the 2022 NAPLAN season begins for Campbell students in years 3 and 5. NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows families to check how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers across Australia. For schools, NAPLAN provides a tool to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress, and the data helps to inform some school planning. NAPLAN is designed to give students an opportunity to demonstrate skills that they have learnt through the curriculum over time.
Families who would like more information about NAPLAN are encouraged to read this brochure: NAPLAN – information for parents and carers
Students, teachers and parents can become familiar with NAPLAN Online by completing mini-tests available in the public demonstration site: http://nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site
The purpose of the site is to familiarise students with the type of items they will see on NAPLAN Online and related functionalities. This level of familiarisation is worthwhile to help students understand and be comfortable with the format of the test. In years 3 and 5 classrooms, teachers will work with students to prepare and become familiar with NAPLAN tests.
If you would like to discuss exemption, withdrawal or adjustments that can be made for students who require support, or have any questions about NAPLAN, please email me at kate.herrington@ed.act.edu.au

However if you would still like hard copies of the notes sent home with your child/ren, please email the school on campbellps@ed.act.edu.au.
The School’s Administration System is presently working on the module which allows the capability for digital signatures. We will keep you posted on any progress in this area.
