Dear parents, students and staff,
As we come to the end of another term, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who has made it such a success. Our school community has continued to thrive, and we have achieved some truly remarkable things together.
Firstly, I would like to thank all of our parents, who have been so supportive of our school and their children's learning. Your engagement and involvement in school events and activities have been truly inspiring, and we are so grateful for your ongoing support.
Secondly, I would like to thank our wonderful students, who have worked hard and shown great dedication to their studies. Your enthusiasm and energy have made this term a joy for all of us, and we are so proud of everything you have achieved.
Finally, I would like to thank our incredible staff, who have worked tirelessly to provide our students with a rich and engaging learning experience. Your passion for teaching and commitment to our school community are truly outstanding, and we are so grateful for everything you do.
I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our school board and P&C, who have been instrumental in supporting our school's vision and goals. Your contributions have been invaluable, and we are so grateful for all the time and effort you have put in.
As we head into the Easter break and the school holidays, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy time with their families and loved ones. Please take this opportunity to rest, relax, and recharge for the next term.
Over the break, more construction will be taking place to build the basketball court, handball courts, and relocate the shed and bike racks. We are excited about these developments and can't wait to see the finished results when we return in Term 2.
Once again, thank you to everyone for your hard work and dedication this term. I am looking forward to another successful term together and seeing our school community continue to thrive.
Kind regards,
Paula Kinsman
Principal
Campbell Mosaic Project
During Weeks 1 and 2 of next term, students will begin workshops with local mosaic artist, Tina van Raay. We are very excited to commence this project, which will be an enriching experience for all students from Preschool to Year 6.
There is a box at the front office for collection of broken/unwanted crockery and ceramics, beads, rocks, shells, jewellery and so on. We desperately need your donations to make the mosaic project as special and beautiful as possible!
Last week we were very privileged to see Tina’s design plan for the mosaic, which we are sure you will agree looks incredible! Many children in Years 4-6’s artworks made for the fete were used as inspiration for this design. If you look closely you can see lots of hidden wildlife and homages to the local Canberra region.
Big thank you to the P&C for funding this wonderful opportunity, that the Campbell community will enjoy for many years to come!
Dear All,
I would like to invite you to a special event on Anzac Eve for Veteran Families.

- Australian War Memorial, Canberra
About the Event
Current and former serving ADF families are invited to attend the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial (AWM) on 24th April 2023. Following the Ceremony, the Commemorative Area (Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Roll of Honour and Pool of Reflection) will remain open for A Time of Reflection during which families of veterans will be invited to remain behind. Campbell Primary School - Regional Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to the 19 Campbell Primary School students selected for the small (but mighty) swim team to take on around 15 other schools at the North Gungahlin Regional Swimming Carnival on Monday. To just make the team they not only had to finish in the top 2 overall from their CPS swimming carnival heats, but they also had to meet minimum qualifying times – no easy feat!
It was fantastic to see our students' pride and enthusiasm at the AIS pool, with plenty of CPS gold caps giving their all in the water. Official results are yet to be released but there was a significant number of CPS students finishing in the top 3 of their heats and we are confident that some will qualify to compete again at the ACT carnival next term. Regardless of the results, we are incredibly proud of this crew of swimmers and their outstanding athletic effort, but more importantly of their sportsmanship and encouragement of all other participants. Campbell students are Safe, Respectful, Learners and it was great to see our PBL on full display to the region!
A special thanks to the parents and carers who took the day to support our students in getting to and from the AIS and preparing for their events. It takes a community to make these days a success and we are so grateful for ours!
Thank you to Mrs Penney and Mr Scherer for supporting the delivery of the carnival and acting as team manager/s on the day.
Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS)
For the third year running, CPS has partnered with Little Athletics ACT to host the LAPS program as a lead into our school Athletics Carnival.
Years 1-6 were excited to further their run, jump and “put” technique preparations just prior to last weeks’ carnival with a highly qualified specialist track and field coach. Students enjoyed a range of games and fun activities through the 40-minute session, while also confirming the competition technique requirements for shot put and long jump. Our teaching staff were also given the opportunity to refresh their athletics teaching skills and connect with online resources through the LAPS website.
Despite adverse weather sending the Year 1-3 sessions indoors, all students seemed to get a lot out of the opportunity. This certainly showed at the carnival with some of the best technique and results in recent history - not to mention really outstanding participation rates!
We wanted to extend our gratitude to the team from LAPS and Athletics ACT for once again offering this wonderful free opportunity for Campbell Primary - it really has a big impact. We hope we see them again next year!
A big thank you to Mrs Penney for organising this.

While restrictions are no longer in place, we do need to remember that COVID is still in our community.
Keep up those COVID Smart behaviours at school and at work to protect yourself and everyone around you.
Being COVID Smart remains a priority for all ACT public schools in 2023.
Students, staff and visitors are reminded to:
- Stay home if unwell and get tested for COVID-19
- Stay up to date with your vaccinations
- Practise good hand and respiratory hygiene
- Physically distance from others when in public places
Individual schools may implement additional measures to manage COVID-19 if deemed necessary in a particular setting. Any changes will be communicated to parents and carers.
If your child has COVID-19, you must let the school know. We recommend keeping your child home for at least five days.
RATs are again available from the school for students in Term 1 from the front office.
