Hello Campbell families,
Parent Portal- Launching at Campbell Primary School in Week 10 (week starting 1 April)
Parent Portal is a secure online platform to share information between parents and carers and their student’s teachers.
In 2024 Parent Portal will be rolled out across all ACT public schools. Find your school on the schedule below.
Parent Portal is a web-based platform that can be accessed on a mobile phone, tablet or computer and will allow parents to:
- notify the school when their child is sick or to explain an absence
- book parent-teacher interviews
- receive academic reports
- receive the school newsletter
- receive messages from their child’s teachers
- make payments
- access the school calendar and their child’s student timetable
- update their contact details.
One of the many benefits of the Parent Portal is that all ACT public schools from preschool will use it through to Year 12, so there will be no need to use a different system as children change schools during their public school journey.
How to register for Parent Portal
Three steps to register for the Parent Portal
- Wait until your school advises you that they are ready to accept registrations. They will do this via their school newsletter and/or a letter.
- Sign up for an ACT Digital Account if you do not already have one. This is an important step in securely verifying the identity of parents and carers. It will not be possible to set up an account without undertaking this step.
- You will be sent an access key (code) and a Parent Portal registration link specific to your child’s school via email to enable you to link your ACT Digital Account to your child’s records.

Hope all our families have a lovely long weekend.
Campbell Preschool
It’s been a very busy start to the term in preschool, and it’s been exciting to see the children start to feel very settled in their new learning environment. The preschoolers have been busy making friends, playing, creating, learning new songs and exploring the world around them. We are very privileged to have the opportunity to observe the preschoolers as they enjoy their first experiences of school life!
On Monday 18 March from 4:30-5:30pm we are hosting a special preschool information session, led by the ACT Education Directorate’s Preschool Pathway Partners. The presentation aims to empower parents as the first educators of their children, and equip them with strategies to support their child/ren at school. We are very excited to offer attending families supervision for children, as well as a FREE sausage sizzle (with big thank you to our amazing P&C).
Don’t forget also that Community Playgroup sessions run on ‘even week’ Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00am in the preschool outdoor environment. All families are invited to attend with their little ones - you don’t have to be a current preschool student to attend! Please feel free to spread the word to other families in the neighbourhood.
Campbell Primary Swimming Carnival 2024
Awesome, astounding and simply amazing are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking about this year's Campbell Primary School swimming carnival.
Last Friday, our students embarked on a journey by bus to the CISAC swimming pool where fun, competition and team spirit awaited. Upon arrival our students joined their house teams to settle in for a day of endless fun.
The grandstand seats quickly came to life as a sea of green, yellow, blue and red washed over them. Our mighty Year 6 leaders showed everyone the way, leading their house chants and encouraging their peers. Eager as could be, our Kindergarten and Year 1 students spent their time at the carnival participating in a range of both land and water activities. The clock struck, the time had come for our 8-12 year old students to dive into the competition and showcase their skills. With races ranging from 2 - 6 competitors in each heat we were in for an epic display of aquatic talent.
On your marks, get set, GO! The day raced by as students dove into the pool pushing themselves not only physically but smashing their own personal goals.
Students not found competing in a race were enjoying their time completing other aquatic opportunities. Students spent their time with peers and teachers, either slipping down the slide, whizzing around the whirlpool or engaging in an intense noodle relay.
An extremely big thank you to all the parents, carers, volunteers and Campbell High students who came and supported our community throughout the day. What an amazing opportunity to come together and celebrate our community's successes.
Netball ACT Year 3 and 4 Gala Day
In yet another big week for sport, a small but spirited group of 20 Year 3 and 4 boys and girls attended the ACT Netball Centre in Lyneham for an inter-school gala day. This was a non-competitive event designed for fun and learning of fundamental skills, as such there was no scoring or finals with the main emphasis on trying something new.
Students were selected from an original pool of more than 40 students who nominated to play - with EVERY player that nominated and tried out making us tremendously proud as well as making the selections incredibly difficult. They should all be very proud of their efforts and we look forward to offering other sporting opportunities later in the year for those that missed out.
We were able to enter 2 teams for the day: Mr Scherer heading up 'CPS 1' with our more experienced players and Mrs Penney taking 'CPS 2' all of whom had never played before. It is fair to say that both teams learned an incredible amount across the 8 games played and continued to improve with every single game.
Our netballers were rotated through most of the 7 positions on the court and were introduced to a flotilla of unfamiliar rules and took to the challenge with great enthusiasm. These netballers represented themselves and Campbell Primary School incredibly well both on and off the court and we received positive feedback from spectators, other schools’ staff and organisers.
These activities take a village to bring together with lots of background work. We wanted to extend a huge thankyou to the 3-4 teaching team, Miss Jones from the sports committee, and Ms Minehan for coming out to cheer us on! We wanted to acknowledge the organisers at Netball ACT who were very supportive in providing us with an additional umpire and a great and well organised carnival opportunity. Finally, and most importantly, a massive thankyou to all of our families for supporting our young athletes and coaches and getting behind the day in a million different ways – we truly couldn’t do it without you!
NRL Raiders Visit Campbell Primary School
During Week 5, Campbell Primary School Year 5 and 6 students were very privileged to host a group of Canberra Raiders superstars who delivered the 2024 INSPIRE workshop. The theme this year was “Simply Your Best” - fantastic timing given that Year 6 leadership speeches followed very quickly after.
The session included opportunities for students to learn about what being your best means, how to develop resilience, when to ask for help and who in their community can provide support. This engaging presentation included videos from current NRL players, hands on activities to demonstrate communication and teamwork, plus lots of opportunities to ask questions and get autographs. For anyone interested there is more information about the program on the NRL website here.
Campbell Primary School staff and students would like to thank the players and presenters from the Raiders and organiser Taylor Giggins from NRL Canberra for their time and energy in delivering this amazing program. We hope to see the Raiders back for the “Road to Glory” session on the way to the 2024 Raiders grand final win! They are off to a great start.

P&C AGM - Thursday 21 March 6pm
The Campbell Primary School P&C committee would like to invite you to attend the AGM on Thursday 21 March at 6:00pm for drinks and nibbles, business will commence at 6:30pm.
We look forward to meeting you at the Year 5/6 Learning area (near the senior playground across from CASAC).
My name is Danielle Hawley, and have been the P&C Secretary for the last 2 years. My husband James has been the Vice President, and I can tell you, as a Defence family, it has enabled our family to make some great connections within the school community. Our 3 children, Arabella, Austin and Archer have loved being connected and included in our meetings and events, and have a sense of pride in having their parents as part of the P&C. We have enjoyed the opportunity to make a contribution to the school, including assisting with planning and development of the new Basketball and Futsal courts, and supporting fundraising and community events.
We have some exciting opportunities available for those wishing to be more involved in the school community, so come along and see what it's all about. We'd love to meet you!
The President, Vice President and Secretary positions are being declared vacant at this AGM, If you would like to be considered for any of these positions, please email me (secretary@campbellpandc.com ) and we can help make it happen!
Kind regards,
Danielle Hawley
Secretary Campbell P&C

Parents and carers play a key role in building confidence.
