Campbell Primary School students were invited to take part in a landmark commemorative project at the War Memorial for the Centenary of ANZAC. The Roll of Honour Soundscape project was a collaborative effort between the Australian War Memorial and ABC studios, and it involved thousands of school children around Australia recording the names on the Roll of Honour boards at the War Memorial. These recordings will be played in the Roll of Honour cloisters throughout the ANZAC Centenary until the end of 2018, so that the names of fallen Australian soldiers can be heard, as well as read.

Five Year 6 students from Campbell Primary were chosen to represent our school, and were transported to the local Canberra ABC studios to record ten names each from the Roll of Honour. Tania, Ben, Tamsin, Dash and Rachel were the chosen five, and they also became the focus of a Foxtel documentary filmed at school and at the ABC studios, to be aired next year.

Last Monday was the 4th of August, the official commencement of the ANZAC Centenary. The five students and their parents were invited to participate in the official launch of the Soundscape project at the War Memorial by the Prime Minister Mr Tony Abbott, with many media groups in attendance and many interviews following!

Tania A was chosen to read The Ode in the Hall of Memory after the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and all students were photographed and interviewed by many media groups following the event. The students are to be commended for the manner in which they managed their roles and conducted themselves; they did the school, and Australia, proud!
